We turn mountains into power and air into water
HOVAK is an engineering NGO from Armenia, building infrastructure designed to last a century — and teaching the generation that will inherit it.
HOVAK NGO
HOVAK is an engineering NGO from Armenia. We exist to turn ideas into working things — feasibility studies, prototypes, and pilot-ready systems built for the real world, not the laboratory shelf.
Our flagship work is in energy and water. The Solar Compression Power Station, an invention our team has been developing for more than a decade, turns a sun-heated mountain slope into a power plant with a century-scale service life; its water system extracts drinking water from the air using the cold depth of a natural reservoir. Alongside the flagship, we build applied water-filtration solutions for communities that need safe water today, not in ten years.
Around this core we grow everything a resilient region needs: STEM and robotics courses that raise the engineers who will one day inherit this infrastructure; hands-on emergency-preparedness training; and two digital platforms in development — ArMaps, interactive maps for cultural tourism, and LUMA, a bridge between local producers and markets.
We are a small organization with a simple rule: we say plainly what is already built, what is being piloted, and what is still a concept — and we finish what we start. If you fund, build, or simply believe in practical engineering for mountain regions, talk to us.
HOVAK ENERGY
The mountain is the power plant. Our Solar Compression Power Station lays a solar-heated duct along a natural slope to drive standard turbines — a century-life alternative to the solar tower. Validated at TRL 6, three national innovation awards, preparing for its first pilot site.
Status: Flagship — in engineering development
HOVAK WATER
Fresh water from air, with the sun moving the airflow and the sea or a deep reservoir supplying the cold. Strongest on arid coastlines, where it becomes desalination without membranes; inland, it pairs with mountain reservoirs — without ever consuming them.
Status: Flagship extension — in engineering development
Applied engineering for cleaner, safer everyday water, built around two priorities: simplicity and durability. Our first unit is assembled and bench-tested; the next step is field testing in a real community.
Status: Prototype built and tested
Water Filtration
Robotics & Emergency Preparedness
Thirty students have completed our first robotics course — the generation that will one day inherit the infrastructure we build. Now we're working to make it a recurring program, alongside hands-on emergency-readiness training.
Status: First course delivered · readiness track in development
Interactive cultural maps of Armenia and Georgia: geolocation, heritage context, and multimedia for travelers who want more than a pin on a map. Built to support local tourism and connect people with place.
Status: Concept
ArMaps
A B2B platform connecting stores, cafés, and services with manufacturers and suppliers: simpler ordering, better coordination, stronger local production.
Status: Concept

Contact Us
Every partnership in our history started with a short message. Send one.
Write to us if you fund climate or community projects; if you're an engineer who wants to build something real; if you have a mountain slope, a reservoir, or a classroom of curious kids — or if you simply have a question about our work.
No formal proposal needed: two sentences about who you are and what caught your interest is a perfect start. We read everything and reply personally, usually within three working days.
