Who we are
HOVAK – Social and Environmental Innovative Technologies Development NGO
HOVAK NGO is an Armenian non-profit organization dedicated to developing and promoting science-driven technologies and initiatives with measurable social and environmental impact. We exist to turn strong ideas into practical solutions—moving from concept and research to feasibility studies, prototyping, and pilot-ready implementation.
We combine engineering, environmental thinking, and digital innovation to design systems that improve everyday life, strengthen community resilience, and support Armenia’s sustainable future. Our work is built around long-term value rather than short-term visibility: we prioritize what can be tested, validated, deployed, and scaled responsibly.
HOVAK develops and supports projects across renewable energy, water technologies, environmental solutions, digital platforms, education, and community development. Several of our concepts are protected by patents and recognized for their originality and potential impact.
Our Mission
To develop and promote innovative technologies and programs that improve quality of life, expand access to sustainable resources, and empower communities through engineering, education, and responsible collaboration.
Our Vision
To help make Armenia a regional center of innovation, sustainable technologies, and scientific creativity—where modern solutions improve daily life, empower communities, and protect the environment.
Why We Exist
Armenia and many regions worldwide face similar challenges: limited access to stable energy, water stress, environmental risks, and unequal opportunities between urban and rural communities. At the same time, there is enormous local talent and creativity that often lacks the pathways, resources, and partnerships needed to move from “good ideas” to working solutions.
HOVAK NGO was created to bridge that gap:
by building practical, science-based technologies,
by supporting communities with tools and skills,
and by creating platforms that connect people, producers, and opportunities.
What We Do
🔬 Innovative Technologies & Patented Concepts
We design, model, and prototype technologies in renewable energy and water systems. Our approach emphasizes feasibility, durability, and deployment readiness—solutions built for real-world conditions, including remote and resource-limited environments.
We treat innovation as an engineering discipline: every concept must be testable, measurable, and adaptable to implementation constraints such as cost, local materials, maintenance requirements, and environmental conditions.
💧 Water Technologies & Filtration
Water access and safety are central to health and development. We develop applied concepts and pilot-oriented solutions that support:
water generation and sustainable supply approaches,
filtration and treatment concepts focused on simplicity and durability,
practical testing and validation for real usage environments.
🌱 Environmental & Social Impact Projects
We support initiatives that reduce environmental risks and strengthen local sustainability. Our work includes community-centered solutions that can be adopted in both rural and urban settings—especially where small improvements can create large benefits for daily life.
📱 Digital Platforms & Smart Tools
Technology is not only hardware. We also build digital products that help communities and businesses connect, grow, and innovate. Our platform initiatives include tourism-tech mapping tools and B2B systems designed to support:
visibility for local producers and services,
simpler coordination and ordering,
better access to information and opportunities,
smarter community and regional development.
🎓 Education, Creativity & Youth Empowerment
Long-term progress depends on people. We support learning initiatives that develop practical skills and creative confidence:
STEM and robotics programs,
engineering thinking and problem-solving workshops,
scientific-creative education that makes complex topics accessible,
community readiness and practical training initiatives that strengthen resilience.
Flagship Initiatives
Below are the core directions that represent HOVAK NGO’s current focus and long-term development path.
1) HOVAK Energy
HOVAK Energy is a renewable energy direction focused on developing scalable concepts designed for real-world deployment. Our goal is to create solutions that can be validated through feasibility work, prototyping, and pilot readiness, with a focus on practical impact rather than theoretical modeling.
2) HOVAK Water
HOVAK Water focuses on water-related solutions and initiatives that support access, sustainability, and resilience. This direction includes water generation concepts and community-oriented approaches for real conditions where water stress and infrastructure limitations are key challenges.
3) Water Filtration
This track focuses on applied filtration and water treatment concepts intended to improve water safety for everyday use. We prioritize durability, simplicity, and testing approaches that can lead to reliable pilot implementation.
4) ArMaps (Digital Platform)
ArMaps is a tourism-tech concept for interactive cultural mapping of Armenia and Georgia. It combines geolocation, historical context, and multimedia to enrich travel experiences and support local tourism development and cultural heritage visibility.
5) LUMA (Digital Platform)
LUMA is a B2B platform concept designed to connect businesses (stores, cafes, service providers) with manufacturers and suppliers. It focuses on simplifying ordering, improving coordination, supporting local production, and enabling sustainable growth through clear UX logic and practical monetization models.
6) Robotics, STEM & Community Preparedness
We support programs that develop engineering skills and practical competencies. This includes STEM/robotics learning for youth and community initiatives that strengthen readiness, problem-solving, and resilience through hands-on training.
7) Circular Economy: Plastic-to-Fuel Recycling
This direction supports circular-economy approaches that turn plastic waste into usable fuel solutions. We aim to reduce waste while creating practical value, focusing on applied prototyping and scalable community impact.
Governance & Transparency
HOVAK NGO is committed to transparent, responsible operations and long-term accountability. We maintain clear internal structure, documented project planning, and ethical collaboration standards.
Our transparency principles include:
clear communication of project goals and expected outcomes,
responsible budgeting and resource planning,
measurable progress tracking for pilots and initiatives,
partner reporting and documentation when projects are funded through grants or institutional programs.
How We Work
Our approach is implementation-driven and partner-oriented. Depending on the project, we operate through stages such as:
Research & Concept Development — defining the problem, building the technical idea, and identifying constraints.
Feasibility & Validation — modeling, early tests, requirements, and risk review.
Prototyping — building test units, measuring results, improving design.
Pilot Readiness — preparing a field-ready approach, documentation, and partnerships.
Deployment & Scaling — pilot deployment, monitoring, iteration, and broader implementation through partners.
This structure helps ensure that innovation is measurable and responsible, and that every project has a pathway to real outcomes.
Partnerships
We welcome collaboration with universities, research teams, NGOs, foundations, public institutions, and private-sector partners. We are open to:
joint research and development,
feasibility studies and technical validation,
pilot deployments and field testing,
grant-based programs and institutional cooperation,
education and community initiatives.
We believe the strongest results come from shared expertise and aligned purpose—especially when innovation is meant to serve communities.
