Thirty children have completed our first robotics and engineering course.

The course was taught by Erik Sargsyan, engineer-physicist and founder of SHANI NGO, who hosted the classes at his own facility and taught free of charge, funded entirely by charitable contributions. Over the course, students moved from first circuits to assembling and programming working robots — and, more importantly, from watching technology to making it.

For HOVAK, this course is the seed of something larger. Long-lived infrastructure needs a generation that can run and repair it, and that generation is trained in exactly such workshops. Our goal now is to turn a one-time volunteer effort into a recurring, grant-funded program — same workshop, new students every cohort, with emergency-preparedness training added alongside.
